APC/SDP Alliance Will Bury PDP In Osun- Famodun

By Kehinde Ayantunji

Osun Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Gboyega Famodun has boasted that the alliance with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the state “is a political alliance that will bury PDP in Osun”.

This is just as he was optimistic that the party is set to clinch all the 26 state house of assembly and 11 National Assembly seats in the state and secure massive votes for President Muhammadu Buhari.

Famodun urged party members to be vigilant and work hard for the victory of the party in the state and national assembly elections, adding that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not in any way a threat to the party.

The chairman spoke on Tuesday while inaugurating the Presidential, National and State Assembly Campaign Committees in the state.

He warned members against any action that will undermine the supremacy of the party and urged them to be inclusive in the campaign and election planning, saying loyalty to the party is of paramount.

He warned members against undermining APC and SDP alliance in the state, describing it as effective.

According to him, “we have selected some of you to lead our party campaigns in your various federal constituencies to ensure victory for our party, for those who for one reason or the other are not members of this committee, they should understand that we cannot appoint everybody, what is important is the victory of the party, there is no intention to rubbish anyone as far as the constitution of the campaign committees is concern.

“To members of the committee, you are expected to be upright and mobilise support for the party, especially at the grassroot level, if there are mistake in the last governorship election, go and work to correct them especially in the area of voters’ education. During the last governorship election, it was discovered that APC has 42,000 voided votes out of the 47,000 total rejected votes, we understand there are more to it, but we need more voters’ education.

“It is also important to tell all of you that APC and SDP alliance has come to stay and I want to enjoy all of you to work with all members of SDP in your various local governments and wards, we are working together for the soul of the state and Nigeria.”

Former Minister of State for Water Resources, Eng Bashir Awotorebo, an SDP Chieftain and Chairman Ife Federal Constituency campaign committee also urged members of SDP across the state to work with APC members, adding that the alliance is in the general interest of the state.

Kolapo Alimi, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, assured APC members not to exercise any fear about the governorship case currently before election petition tribunal.

He said, “PDP are only circulating fake news about the proceedings at the tribunal, on the strength of evidence and point of law, PDP has no case before the tribunal, they have closed their cases and we have seen the strength of their witnesses, not to be  prejudice, we are so confident of winning and eight years of Gboyega Oyetola is  certain”, Alimi said.
