4 Suspects In Court Over Ikirun Bank Robbery In Osun

Some Suspected armed robbers, who attacked two commercial banks in Ikirun on February 12th, 2016, killing two policemen and seven civilians were, on Wednesday, arraigned before an Osun State High Court, Ikirun Judicial Division on three count charges of conspiracy, robbery, and murder.

The robbers, namely Nuhu Jimoh, Ndubisi David, Aderibigbe Oluwaseun and Ogundunmade Kayode, were charged with conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder.

The Suspect was said to have robbed Skye Bank, Ikirun on February 12, 2016, carting away N13.5million and also attacked First Bank, Ikirun on the same date, where they escaped with N26.5million loot after the deadly operation.

The police alleged that the accused, during the robbery, killed Police Cpl Oyewo Sunday, Cpl Olokede Victor, Elusoji Olabode and Adeyeye Oluwafemi.

However, when the matter came up on Wednesday, a legal aid counsel, Mrs. oluyemisi Akintajuwa, appealed to the court to hear the application for bail of the second and fourth accused, David and Kayode.

She explained to the court that Kayode has a mental challenge, pleading that the court should release him on bail for medical treatment.

The prosecution team from Ministry of Justice led by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Ajibola Basiru, who appeared along with Assistant Chief State Counsel, Biodun Badiora, informed the court that counsel for the first and third accused have not been coming to court, hence the delay in the hearing of the matter.

However, one Mr Ogundari, promised to represent the first and third accused person in the interest of justice.

The presiding judge, Justice Jide Falola, subsequently adjourned the matter to Thursday, November 2, 2017, for ruling on the bail application and hearing of the matter.
