30-Year-Old In Court For Stealing N1.2m From Dead Man’s Bank Account

A 30-year-old man, John Timothy, was arraigned on Thursday before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing the sum of N1.2 million from a dead man’s bank account.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, Insp Olalekan Adegbite, was committed between May 17, 2021, and July 21, 2021.

Adegbite alleged that the defendant stole N1.2 million from one late Mr Johnson David’s Access Bank account.

He noted that a son of the deceased, Mr Daniel David, discovered the theft.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant was granted bail by Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Osho adjourned the case until May 7 for hearing.
