PDP Wants To Return So As To Continue Stealing – Fayemi

A former governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has said the Peoples Democratic Party is only seeking to return to power in 2019 so as to resume looting the treasury as done in the past.

Fayemi, currently the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, also urged Nigerians not to use the current fuel scarcity to rate President Muhammadu Buhari’s performance.

He stated this while addressing some journalists in his home town of Isan Ekiti in the Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Wednesday.

He said, “What (fuel scarcity) we are witnessing is just a normal curve in the life of any administration. We will get over it and move on, but largely the President has not disappointed Nigerians.

“What the PDP wants to come back to do is stealing. The option for Nigerians in 2019 is not to return to the old age of criminalisation and brigandage by not voting for the PDP, because there is nothing to convince Nigerians that they have changed with the shenanigans that characterised their national convention and the poor performances by their governors.

“Up till now, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan (former President) and his henchmen have not apologised about how they ran the country aground. So, there is nothing to suggest that the PDP remains a credible alternative to the APC in 2019.”

Fayemi said the Judicial Commission of Inquiry that recently indicted him was raised by Governor Ayodele Fayose to smear his reputation and make him unpopular.

He said, “Fayose’s stock in trade is lying against someone to score political gains. They started with the probe of N852m UBEC fund and when they knew they could not go far, they started concocting lies and said I looted N17bn.

“Let us wait and see who will go to jail between Fayose and I. I have been out of office and I am still moving free, but I am sure he won’t be able to walk free on the streets after losing immunity because of the way he had run the state aground.”

Fayemi, who did not make any categorical statement on whether he was nursing a governorship ambition or not, said the APC would ensure it wins the state governorship poll in 2018.

The minister boasted that he had used his office to bring many benefits to the state.

APC Will Rule Nigeria For A Long Time, PDP Won’t Return – Okorocha

Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha has declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC, will rule Nigeria for a very long time both in the state and at national level.

Okorocha made the remark while dismissing plans by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to retake power in 2019.

He urged members of the party to remain steadfast and be proud of the party.

In a statement, the governor called on leaders and members of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state “to remain steadfast and also be proud that their party is in power both in the state and at the federal level.

“The governor equally told the party members to be boastful of the monumental achievements of the party’s administration in the state which have exceeded all that the administrations before him had achieved.

“He assured the party members that APC would retain power in the state and at the national level for a long time and urged them to disregard the claims by other parties that they would return to power in 2019.

“The governor also celebrated Christmas for the party officials at the state, local government and ward levels with cash, and told them to continue to work for the progress of the party because APC is in power to retain it with visible achievements.”

Another Ondo PDP Rep Decamps To APC

A member of the Federal House Representatives and member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Mayowa Akinfolarin, has dumped the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress on Saturday.

The lawmaker, representing Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo Federal constituency, defected to the APC with hundreds of his supporters.

At the event held in Ore, in the Odigbo Local Government Area of the state, hundreds of Akinfolarin’s followers from the six local government areas in his senatorial district followed him to the APC.

The Ondo State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu, the deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi, the Acting Chairman of the APC in Ondo State, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, and other leaders of the party were at the event.

Speaking, Akinfolarin said the PDP was no longer what it used to be, adding that the party has accommodated too many bad eggs who have succeeded in causing crisis in the party.

He said, “I don’t want to be like the stubborn fly that follows a dead body into the grave.”

Welcoming the defectors, Adetimehin said the APC had a very big room to accommodate more people, saying any member of the opposition would be accepted into the party.

UPDATE: Aggrieved “PDP Members” Break Out, Float “Fresh PDP”

A new faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday opened a new secretariat for the party in Asokoro District of Abuja.

The PDP duly recognized national secretariat is located at Wuse, Zone 5, Abuja.

The faction was reportedly formed by a group of five men namely – Prince Obi Nwosu, Alhaji Hassan Adamu, Chief Olusola Akindele, Chief Godwin Duru and Franklyne Edede.

The men are believed to be loyalists of one of the chairmanship aspirants in the party national convention held on December 9.

Nwosu, who is the leader of the group, told journalists that the process leading to the emergence of the Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC) was fraught with illegality and abuse of electoral process.
