Osun Rejects Court Order Invalidating State Land Use Charge

The State Government of Osun has rejected the report of a High Court judgement sitting in Ilesa which invalidated the State of Osun Land Use Charge Law 2016.

In a release signed by the media adviser to the governor, Mr Sola Fasure, the State government stated noted that the case was instituted with the most malicious and malevolent intention of crippling the state’s revenue drive and ultimately her finances.

Meanwhile, the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hon Ajibola Basiru has been asked to appeal immediately and ask for stay of execution pending the determination of the case.

“The State Government of Osun has received the report of a High Court judgement sitting in Ilesa which invalidated the State of Osun Land Use Charge Law 2016. We are still studying it.

“We do not agree with the judgement and it is rejected in its entirety.

“Nevertheless, we have firm belief in the rule of law and have great respect for the judiciary. We have therefore asked the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to appeal immediately and ask for stay of execution pending the determination of the case.

“It must be noted however that this is a We have the firm belief that the judiciary will not allow itself to be dragged on this dishonourable path.”
