Medical Doctors In Osun state have given the state government a 21 day ultimatum to do something about what they termed “decadence” in the state health sector, or risk total Withdrawal of their services.

At a press conference in Osogbo, the state capital,  Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Association in the state Olajumoke Tokunbo said health care delivery in the state has been negatively affected, owing to challenges pervading the sector.

Olajumoke who highlighted some of the challenges facing the sector to include payment of modulated salaries, lack of drugs and consumables among others, said all they wanted is for government to address their agitation and accede to their demands.

If these demands according to Olajumoke were not met at the expiration of the 21 day ultimatum, medical services would be withdrawn.

In his reaction, the Special Adviser to the state governor on health matters Oluwagbemiga Oyinlola, assured that the state government would do everything within its power to engage the doctors and resolve the issue.

He denied claims that there are no drugs in state hospitals and appealed to the doctors to bear with the state government on their demands.
