STUDENTS of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede has bemoaned the increasing rate of cultism activities among their colleagues on the campus.

The activities of the cultists, according to the students, have also become a nightmare  for the residents of the school community.

OSUN DEFENDER gathered that cultists believed to be students of the school recently demonstrated and displayed their fraternity’s identity with diverse slangs, colour and pictures inside the school premises.

A short video watched by OSUN DEFENDER recently showed some final year students of the polytechnic, who are members of a cult group, displaying their identity in front of the Administrative Building on campus.

Some of the cultists drove in exotic cars while others trek while displaying their identities in the video.

Some students and residents of Ede who spoke under the condition of anonymity expressed concerns that the management of the school has not taken decisive action on the identified students.

“The management was aware of the cultists display right in front of the Administrative building and no action was taken to arrest them. Are we safe?” the student asked.

He added: “Just imagine, robbery everywhere, thugs and cultists are attacking students anyhow. The cultists’ violent activities are troubling; they go around with guns.”

“I witnessed one around my hostel last week, where the cultists attacked a guy believed to be one of them. They just constitute disturbance in the community and throw stones at their colleagues’ apartment who refuse to come out. If the management remains silent, then the members of the management are involved.”

The Public Relations Officer of the school, Mr. Sola Lawal, while debunking the report, described it as a sheer figment of imagination of those alleging cult activities on the campus, saying such insinuation remains totally unfounded.

He further explained that the Polytechnic has a long history of peaceful co-existence with strict policy against any form of cultism.
