The Caretaker Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the State of Osun, Hon. Rasak Salinsile has urged members of the party to go out tomorrow and cast their vote for credible candidates in the ward congress.
Salinsile in a press statement issued at the Party Secretariat in Osogbo today said election would be held for the congress.
He said: “I want to urge all APC members to come out tomorrow and cast their votes for the candidate of their choice in all the available party offices at the ward congress in line with the directive of the Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC).”
Salinsile alleged that the nomination forms brought to the state by some officials of the APC at the National Secretariat were hijacked by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the party Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun.
He said the game plan was to disenfranchise some members of the party to give room for easy manipulation of the congress.
The APC secretary, however, said the members of the party who paid for the nomination forms were able to secure their forms from the National Secretariat eventually.
Salinsile said: “Some official of the APC who came to the State to sell nomination forms for aspirants for the congress were housed at Government House. They were not allowed to sell the form. The form was hijacked and given to members of the Governor’s political group, IleriOluwa only.
“We discovered that the plan was to disenfranchise members of the party who are interested in one office or the other at the congress. Luckily, those people were able to get their nomination forms at the National Secretariat of our party.”
Calling on the party members to be active participants in the congress, Salinsile said, “The APC members should be faithful to the party by ensuring that only candidates that will salvage the party are elected. This is the time for the progressives to rise up and restore the dignity of the progressive ideology.
“The APC in the State of Osun is sick and we need to heal it through our vote for credible party men and women at the congress.
“Our people should conduct themselves in peaceful manner at the designated voting centres at their various wards. I also need to state that they should also avoid any form of provocations that could distrust the process.
“We hope to see a free, fair, credible and transparent election for the ward congress.”
