The position taken by the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, in support of Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, has come under fire from Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State and chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum, who claims that they are not speaking on behalf of the Yoruba people.
Akeredolu noted that Afenifere is divided on the supposed endorsement and highlighted that the group’s viewpoints do not represent those of the Yoruba people.
Despite the fact that political prostitution is commonplace in the country, Akeredolu asserts that Tinubu has always been progressive.
The Governor revealed this while discussing “Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Business of Nation Building” in a Twitter Space session.
Speaking on the Muslim/Muslim ticket, the governor said that the country values knowledge and talents more than race or ethnicity.
He emphasized how Tinubu had promoted national cohesiveness by selecting members of his government from different ethnic origins across the country.
“We are left with an Obi and Asiwaju. Then you will weigh the two. Some of us have made a decision about Asiwaju. And the decision is based on what he has to offer,” he said.
Akeredolu is the Southwest Coordinator of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Council.
