Voters Apathy Greets Controversial Osun LG Election

There was poor turnout of voters in today’s local government election in the State of Osun.

 

Voters in majority of the polling units visited by OSUN DEFENDER distanced themselves from the election which has been generating controversy since day-one of its conception.

 

 

It was noted that election has been concluded at the polling units as early as 11am as a result of low turnout of voters.

A booklet containing 55 ballot papers were not exhausted in all the polling units visited in Osogbo, capital of the state.

 

Besides, it was observed that only the All Progressives Congress (APC) has an agent in some of the polling units visited.

 

There was also vehicle and vehicular movements across the length and breadth of the state capital.

 

Only 16 votes were recorded out of 701 registered voters at unit 25, Ward 5, Ataoja E, Osogbo, Osogbo local government, when OSUN DEFENDER visited the place around 12pm.

 

Of over 500 voters at Unit 2, Ward 5, Osogbo local government, only about 60 votes were recorded at the unit as of 12:03am.

 

Also, about 34 votes were recorded at polling unit 21, Ward 3, MTN Office, Estate, Osogbo, Egbedore Local Government.

 

The voter apathy cut across all the polling units in the state.

 

It was also observed that only All Progressives Congress, APC, among 14 other political parties is participating in the ongoing election with a ballot paper of Yes or No.
