Volunteers, Beneficiaries Hail FG On N-Power, School Feeding Programmes

Volunteers and Beneficiaries of the social intervention programmes of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration have lauded the initiative saying it is in the right direction.

They also urged the administration not to stop the programme which they said has alleviated poverty and reduced hunger to the barest minimum in the land.

Martina Okoh, a 32 year old  fod vendor of the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme from Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State says the children are exicted about the programme with many calling for the extension of the scheme to other primary school children.

Martina who feeds 100 People at NKSC Primary School, Wadata everyday held that the school feeding has reduced hunger in the land with the children being fed properly with effective balanced diet.

Another food vendor under the NHGSFP, Hajiya Aisha Suleiman from Jalingo Local Government of Taraba State that feeds 72 pupils at Sani Undogo Memorial Primary School, Jalingo,says the food reduces hunger.

She said “Some children even have nothing to eat and it really helps them because some don’t get food to eat at home before coming to school.”

Ugo Regina from Cross River State is a beneficiary of the N-Power scheme and teaches at the Ironbar Memorial Primary School, Calabar South, Calabar, she said N-Power gives her the opportunity to use her knowledge to impact on the children.

She also spoke in glowing terms about the school feeding programme stressing that “On the school feeding project, it really helps because some children do not normally have something to eat before coming to school. It is not easy to give succor to the poor children but I thank the President for doing it.”

The three respondents urged the Federal Government not to stop the N-Power, National Elementary School Feeding Programme plus other social intervention packages but continue and broaden the horizon to ensure that more Nigerians benefit from the scheme.
