UNIOSUN Gets Reaccreditation Of 25 Programmes

 

THE National Universities Commission (NUC) has re-accredited 25 undergraduate academic programmes of Osun State University, Osogbo. 

According to the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Ademola Adesoji, the new approval for the 25 academic programmes was contained in a letter from the NUC, dated April 14, 2022 and signed by the Director of Accreditation for the Executive Secretary. 

Adesoji said UNIOSUN had presented 25 undergraduate programmes during the accreditation visit of the NUC between October and November 2021.

He said the various NUC teams had rigorously examined the University’s quality and quantity of teaching staff, available facilities, budgetary provisions, among other criteria. 

The PRO noted that the approval conveyed by the NUC revealed that all the 25 programmes presented got reaccreditation status, except one which got interim accreditation status. 

The programmes with full accreditation status are: B. Agriculture (Agricultural Economics and Agribusiness); B. Agriculture (Agricultural Extension and Rural Development); B. Agriculture (Animal Science); B. Agriculture (Agronomy); B.A. Islamic Studies; B.A. Philosophy; B.A. Theatre Arts; B.A. Yoruba; B.A. Tourism Studies; B.Sc. Anatomy; BN.Sc. Nursing Science; B.Sc. Physiology and B.Sc.(Ed.) Biology Education.

Other reaccredited courses are: B.Sc.(Ed.) Chemistry Education; B.Sc.(Ed.) Mathematics Education; B.Sc.(Ed.) Physics Education; B.A.(Ed.) English Education; B.Sc.(Ed.) Economics Education; B.Sc.(Ed.) Political Science; B.Sc. Entrepreneurship; LL.B Common Law; B.Sc. Building; B.Sc. Estate Management; B.Sc. Chemistry; B.Sc. Plant Biology; B.Sc. Zoology and B.Sc. Sociology.

Only B.A. Linguistics and Communication Studies was granted interim. 

With this latest approval, the university has renewed its operational license to run the above listed programmes for the next five years and the last one programme given interim for the next two years when the Commission will revisit for another re-accreditation. 

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Ayo Clement Adebooye, while receiving the letter of accreditation, expressed his gratitude to the commission for being diligent in its duties, urging its leadership to continue to uphold the standards expected of university education in the country.
