Twitter Ban: Instagram, Facebook Must Register To Operate In Nigeria – FG

The Federal Government has said Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms must register in the country.

The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, said this while speaking to State House Correspondents on today.

According to Mohammed, Twitter, which was recently suspended by the federal government, has reached out to him for a “high-level” discussion.

He maintained that Twitter was suspended because it provided a platform for people threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria.

Mohammed claimed that the CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, helped to fund last year’s #EndSARS protest and is also allowing the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to use the medium to call for the killing of Nigerian security operatives.

For Twitter to continue to operate in Nigeria, the social media firm must be registered in Nigeria as a business concern.
