Truck Crashes On Several Vehicles In Plateau

 

Two people were killed while 52 others sustained injuries in a fresh road accident in the Jos North LGA of the state.

This happened barely two days after 16 persons died in a road accident in the Mangu Local Government Area of the State.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Public Enlightenment Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state, Mr Peter Longsan, on Monday, January 16 2023.

He said that the latest victims died when a truck plying Jos-Bauchi road crashed on several vehicles on Sunday evening.

According to the FRSC official, “The crash occurred at about 5pm around Zakaliyo along Jos – Bauchi Road. Fourteen vehicles were affected. The people involved were 54. Unfortunately, two adult females were killed during the incident while 52 persons were injured.”

The Public Enlightenment Officer who attributed the cause of the crash to brake failure and loss of control added, “The rescue operation was carried out by the FRSC Ambulance and Emergency Response Team stationed along the Jos – Bauchi Route, and men of the FRSC Jos Bye Pass Unit Command.

“The injured victims of the crash were taken to Plateau Specialist Hospital and Toro General Hospital for medical attention, while the corpses of the deceased were taken by their family members for burial arrangements after being confirmed dead at the hospital.
“Vehicle operators are advised to ensure proper preventive maintenance of their vehicles, avoid speed, ensure the installation of speed limiting device and should not permit underage driving or unlicensed persons to drive.”
