The National and State Houses of Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos has nullified the election of Moses Sule as the lawmaker representing the Mikang State constituency.
OSUN DEFENDER reports that Sule, who was elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, is the current Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly.
In nullifying the speaker’s election on Friday, the tribunal also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw a certificate of return earlier issued to him and give it to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Daniel Nanlong, who scored the second-highest number of votes cast during the election
The tribunal had ruled against the speaker on the basis that his party, the PDP, had no legal structure to nominate him as a candidate to stand for election during the last poll.
