1. Osun LG Election: NNPP Warns APC Against Moves To Truncate Poll

Osun state chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Monday described the All Progressives Congress (APC) alleged move to truncate the conduct of the local government election scheduled for next month as a “joker of the year, which can never see the light of the day.”

The party chairman, Dr Tosin Odeyemi disclosed this in a statement and cautioned the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) against succumbing to blackmail over the forthcoming elections.

2. Adeleke’s Aide, APC Chieftain Disagree Over 2026 Osun Governorship Bid

An aide to Osun State Governor, Mr. Muniru Raji, and the Senatorial Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Adeoye Adelakun, have disagreed on the chances of an Osogbo indigene succeeding the incumbent Ademola Adeleke as Osun Governor in 2026.

Raji and Adelakun, former members representing the Osogbo State Constituency in the House of Assembly, both hail from Osogbo, the capital of Osun State.

3. Osun CDHR Calls For Rehabilitation Of Pardoned Convicts As Inmate Returns To Crime

The Osun State chapter of the Committee for the Defense of Human Rights, CDHR, has called on Nigerians to pressure the Ademola Adeleke administration to urgently rehabilitate the fifty-two inmates he pardoned in December 2024.

The call is coming after reports by a news outlet that Sunday Omisakin, one out of the 53 inmates pardoned by Governor Adeleke returned to crime and is presently remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Service facility.

It was gathered that on Friday, January 3, 2025, Omisakin was arrested for breaking into a building and he is now facing a two-count charge of stealing and burglary.
