1. Osun Plans Mediation Panel To End Ilobu, Ifon Clashes

The Osun State Government has announced plans to establish a committee to mediate and provide lasting solutions to the recurring communal clashes between Ilobu and Ifon Orolu communities.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Samuel Ojo disclosed this during an update on the security situation in the affected areas on Sunday.

The clashes, which began last Thursday, prompted Governor Ademola Adeleke to impose a 12-hour curfew (7 pm to 7 am) and deploy security personnel, including the Army, Police, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, to restore order.

2. Couple Nabbed For Stealing Children In Osun, Ondo

Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested an Edo State-based couple who stole children in Ondo and Osun states.

Police have recovered 10 of the children even as some parents who stormed Command said they were yet to see theirs.

The couple, Lukman Isiaka, 42, and his wife, Abosede Olanipekun, 23, were said to have used various methods to steal the children and allegedly sold each child for N1million to 62-year-old Sabina Izuorah in Ihiala, Anambra State.

3. Osun LG Poll: APC Calls For Sack Of OSSIEC Chairman, Abioye

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has called for the sack of Barrister Hashim Abioye as the chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, OSSIEC.

The call by the Osun APC is coming just weeks to the much anticipated local government election in the state, scheduled for Saturday, February 22, 2025.

In a statement issued by Kola Olabisi, the Osun APC Director of Media and Information and obtained by DAILY POST on Sunday, the party hinged its call on the provisions of sections 197(b) and 200(1)(a) of the 1999 Constitution, as amended, and contained in the First Alteration Act known as Constitutional Act No 1 dated 6th day of July, 2010.
