1. Osun West APC Leaders Push For 2026 Gov Ticket

The Forum of All Local Government Chairmen from the Osun West Senatorial District under the platform of the All Progressives Congress has called for the party’s governorship ticket for the 2026 elections to be zoned to their district, provided former governor Adegboyega Oyetola does not re-contest.

This demand was outlined in a communiqué issued after a meeting held in Iwo, Osun State, on Wednesday, attended by 41 former local government chairmen.

The communiqué, signed by Aderemi Abbas, former Chairman of Irewole Local Government Area, and 40 others, emphasised the need for justice and equity in zoning the governorship ticket.

2. Police Arrest Four Suspected Murderers, Others In Osun

The Osun State Police Command has arrested four suspected cultists for attempting to murder one Samuel Friday in Iree, Boripe Local Government Area.

The suspects, identified as Ibrahim Gbadamosi (Gbedu), Ibiyemi Saheed (Mouth), Ayandiya Yusuf (Lakaye), and Ogunwole Najeem (Agali), are reportedly members of an unlawful group known as the Action Boxing Training Club (ABTC).

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Yemisi Opalola, the suspects were apprehended on January 5, 2025, around 12:30 a.m. at their hideouts by the Anti-Cultism Unit.

3. Osun: Police Arrest 2 For Buying Rice With Fake Alert

Osun State Police Command on Wednesday, paraded two friends, Olalere Gbenga (54) and Muftau Balogun (37), who allegedly went to buy rice with fake alert after leaving court where they were standing trial.

The spokesperson of the police in Osun, Yemisi Opalola, who paraded the suspects, Wednesday, explained that the suspects were arrested on 6th January, 2025 at about 6:45pm, upon information received from members of Local Hunters Group, Osogbo.

The suspects who were allegedly arrested with three bags of rice, were said to have been arrested by the Police operative from Ata-Oja division in September, 2024 on similar offence reported by about 24 complainants.
