1: Osun PDP Berates APC Over Exco Meeting Allegation

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has berated the All Progressive Congress (APC) over its allegation that the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has failed to convey Executive Council meetings since he took over the administration of the state.

APC had in a statement by his chairman, Tajudeen Lawal on Monday, accused Adeleke of ineptitude, saying that the State Governor’s attempt to hold the first state executive meeting was unfruitful.

Lawal said it is strange for a democratic state government to refuse to hold executive meetings for about two months.

Responding through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke said Osun APC is suffering from amnesia, adding that former Governor Gboyega Oyetola held his maiden state executive council meeting on November 4, 2019, almost a year after the 2018 governorship election.

2: Two Killed As Cultists Clash In Ilesa

Two suspected cultists were on Sunday, reportedly killed in a clash between rival gangs in Ilesa, Osun State.

OSUN DEFENDER gathered that the rival gang members stormed a beer parlour at Onimo junction, where the victims, identified as Machine and SK, were drinking.

The traditional ruler in the area, Onimo of Imo, Oba Olaniyi Agunbiade, said he was watching a football match around 8 p.m. when he heard gunshots.

When contacted, Osun Police Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident.

3: Adeleke Approves Payment Of Terminal Benefits For Deceased Pensioners

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has approved payment of terminal benefits for deceased pensioners of Primary school teachers and Local Government Staff in the state.

In a statement by the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Bureau, Mr Akibu Ibrahim, a copy made available to Osun Defender on Monday in Osogbo, called on relatives of the deceased to visit the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau Office to check their names for payment.

The statement said Adeleke takes the welfare of Osun people serious, adding that the Governor will continue paying the inherited debt, as well as offsetting the backlog of workers’ salaries and pensions owes to retirees in the state.
