Transfer Deadline Day: Griezmann Returns To Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, And Arsenal Sign Players

One of the final twists to a dramatic summer transfer deadline day saw France international, Antoine Griezma need, return to Atletico Madrid.

The Rojiblancos completed a season-long loan move for the Barcelona forward with a mandatory €40 million (£34m/$47m) option to buy.

Meanwhile, Barcelona has confirmed the signing of Luuk de Jong in a loan switch from Sevilla with an option to make the move permanent next June.

The 31-year-old spent two seasons with Sevilla, where he failed to find his best scoring form.

He will now be expected to chip in to help fill the void left by Antoine Griezmann.

In the other news, Chelsea made their third signing of the summer before the transfer deadline.

Chelsea signed Saul Niguez on a season-long loan from Atletico Madrid with a £30 million ($41m) option to buy.

The midfielder is expected to compete with N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, and Mateo Kovacic in the middle of the pack.

On their part, Arsenal have confirmed the signing of defender Takehiro Tomiyasu from Bologna.

22-year-old Japan international joins for a fee of £16 million (€19m/$22m) and will wear the No.18 in north London.

Tomiyasu is a natural center-back but has played mostly at right-back in Bologna, he will likely feature thereafter Hector Bellerin joined Real Betis on a season-long loan earlier in the day.
