Thugs Disrupt Osun PDP Senatorial Primary Election

Osun West senatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State was disrupted by hoodlums on Tuesday.

The exercise holding at Iwo Town Hall, Iwo in Iwo local government area of the state was disrupted when hoodlums stormed the venue and unleashed mayhem on party faithful.

The scuttled exercise was a contest between Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi and Dr. Lere Oyewumi.

Scores of armed hoodlums who descended on the party members and supporters of the two aspirants and chased them out of the venue.

The two camps have since accused each other of sponsoring thugs to disrupt the process.

In a Memorandum of Understanding, the national leadership of the party had ceded the senatorial ticket to Ogunbiyi after his fallout with Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governorship candidate of the party at the just concluded election in Osun.

But this didn’t go down well with Oyewumi who also picked up nomination form ahead of the governorship election and threatened a showdown with Ogunbiyi.

The thugs were armed with guns, marchets and charms. The delegates and leaders of the party vowed to remain at the venue until the exercise is done.
