Technical Officers Charged To Imbibe Good Maintenance Culture

Technical Officers in the Local Government Service have been admonished to apply their technical acumen and wealth of experience to put into function abandoned government facilities in the State.

The Chairman, Local Government Service Commission, Elder Peter Babalola gave this advice while declaring open A-3day workshop titled ‘’Resource Management and Maintenance of Public Facilities held at the Multi-purpose Hall of the Local Government Service Commission.

Elder Babalola maintained that the durability of any public properties or facilities depend on effective management and maintenance of technical officers.

He stressed that the lackadaisical attitude of people to public facilities should be discouraged while maintenance culture should be imbibed by everybody in the society.

The Local Government Service Commission’s boss stated that the training programme which is the second phase is for the purpose of good focus and sense of direction as well as implementation of one of the recommendations in the communiqué issued at the end of the first phase.

He noted that, the workshop is aimed at identifying various public resources and facilities, thereafter putting them into effective and prudent use.

In his address of welcome, the consultant in charge of the training, Pastor Segun Ogunleye, encouraged participants to develop new culture of identifying with and protecting all laudable projects, equipment and all facilities provided by the government in their locality.

According to him, it is expected that, after the training session, Technical Officers will proceed to educate people in the various grassroot areas on the need to imbibe maintenance culture that will protect the quality of facilities for a long time.
