A Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry at the University of Ibadan (UI), Prof. Opeyemi Ajewole has been reportedly killed by unknown gunmen in Ibadan, on Monday.
It was gathered that the don was killed by the gunmen while returning home in the Moniya area of Ibadan on Monday evening.
Another lecturer from the University who confirmed the incident to newsmen said “It is true. He was killed last night while returning home. They shot him and took his car.
He was my friend. I just confirmed from a member of his Faculty now”.
Principal Assistant Registrar, Public Communications, UI, Joke Akinpelu, was also quoted to have said, “Yes, it is true. But we are not sure if it is armed robbers or hired assassins.”
Ajewole was born on March 6, 1962.
