Stop Parading Yourself As Olu-Odo Of Odo-Ijesa, Osun Govt Warns Monarch

OSUN State Government has ordered the newly installed monarch, Mr Olufemi Olayinka, to stop parading himself as the Olu-odo of Odo-Ijesa in Atakumosa East Local Government of the state.

The government while declaring Olayinka’s installation null and void, said he did not follow due process to become the monarch, adding that he was installed by the Ogboni of Ipole, Oba Samson Oyeleye.

The government, in a letter sent to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs by the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Barr Samuel Ojo, on behalf Governor Ademola Adeleke, the regent of the town, High Chief Olugbenga Ogunniyi was directed to continue overseeing the affairs of the community.

OSUN DEFENDER gathered that Ojo had earlier sent a letter to the state Governor to inform him of the situation of things in the community.

He noted that the illegal installation if not urgently looked into, will plunge the town into a state of unrest and anarchy.

The letter which was sighted by the medium yesterday reads in part: “We receive with dismayed the shocking news of illegal installation of Olodo of Odo-ljesa last week without recourse to due process with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Kingmakers of Odo-ljesa and Osun, State Executive Council in general and this is posing grievous security threat in the town.

“It is most unfortunate that the “Kangaroo installation of Hon. Olufemi Olayinka as Olodo of Odo-ljesa by Ogboni of Ipole, Oba Samson Kehinde Oyeleye has created panic and pandemonium among the residents of Odo-ljesa because youth restiveness is on the rise and may boil over if immediate actions are not taken to meet the demands of the people.

“This illegality will continue to plunge the town into a state of unrest and anarchy if adequate steps are not taken.”

The second letter sent to the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs reads partly: “I wish to refer to the above subject matter and to convey the directive of His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke to you about the illegal installation of Olu-odo of Odo-ljesa which was done two weeks ago by Ogboni of Ipole Oba Samson Kehinde Oyeleye that was not followed due process of the State government, and is now causing a serious threat and unrest in the community.

“You are to invite Hon. Olufemi Olayinka who was illegally installed to desist from further parading himself as Olu-odo of Odo-ljesa while they should await the civil suit that is already in court for its final determination.

“However, the Regent of Odo- ljesa, High Chief Olugbenga Ogunniyi that has been overseeing the community welfare should continue as it were until due process of installation of the Olu-odo of Odo-ljesa is finally approved by His Excellency through your able office.

“Once again, the illegal installation has been described by His Excellency as null and void,” the letter sent to the Ministry reads.

Meanwhile, Olayinka while speaking with newsmen, confirmed that he was installed by the Ogboni of Ipole Ijesa who he claimed has the constitutional rights to install monarchs in Ijesa South Federal Constituency.

He said: “They are lying. Is it possible to install a king without the knowledge of the government? Won’t the government have come to pick the king and those who installed him?

“The only person that has the right to install a king in Ijesa South Federal Constituency is the Ogboni of Ipole Ijesa and he was the one who installed me.

“Under the chieftaincy law of Osun State, he is the person with the right to install a king in Ijesa South Federal Constituency and he was the one that installed me.”
