Mr. Ayodele Fayose, the former Governor of Ekiti State, and a critical stakeholder in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has suggested that the party’s Southwest Zonal Congress that took place yesterday in Osogbo was rigged.
Mr. Fayose had supported Eddy Olafeso, the outgone zonal chairman of the party in his reelection bid, while Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, supported Taofeek Arapaja, the former Deputy Governor of Oyo State.
Arapaja polled 343 votes to narrowly defeat Olafeso, who got 330 votes.
In a series of tweets through his verified Twitter handle @GovAyoFayose, the former Governor established that over-voting took place at the congress.
“Whatever may be our reservations on the issue of over-voting, we have chosen to look at the larger picture, which is the PDP. We must therefore use our energy and resources to rebuild the party”, Fayose tweeted.
Nonetheless, the former Governor congratulated Arapaja on his emergence as the Southwest Zonal Chairman of the PDP.
