The confidence of the students of University of Miaduguri in the armed forces of Nigeria was further strengthened on Sunday when a soldier shot and killed a suicide bomber. It was gathered that the bomber entered the university through the back gate with the aim of penetrating the school before detonating the bomb. His plans however failed as he was gunned down by the security operative.
Confirming the incident, UNIMAID’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Tanko Ahmed, said the incident occurred around 11pm on Sunday. Sunday’s attack on the school by suicide bombers was the second as UNIMAID was first attacked in January, which led to the death of a professor of veterinary medicine and four others.
