Seven killed As Armed Robbers Attack Banks, Police Station In Edo

Two police officers and five civilians were killed on Thursday when armed robbers attacked four banks in Uromi, Esan north-east LGA of Edo state.

The armed men also attacked a police station in the Auchi area of the state.

Bello Kontong, police public relations officer (PPRO) in Edo, confirmed the attacks to newsmen.

He said the armed robbers used dynamite to attack the banks and police station.

“There are four banks that were attacked — UBA, Zenith Bank, First Bank and Union Bank,” he said.

“We lost two police officers including one from the division that was attacked — a female constable and then a sergeant that is from Auchi in Zenith bank.

“So, the total casualties of human beings are seven – two police personnel and five civilians including a mad man.”
