*Says the team will miss injured Ighalo
Super Eagles’ and Galatasaray of Turkey forward, Henry Onyekuru has expressed joy after being called up for the clash against South and Uganda, promising to give his best to ensure Nigeria qualifies for next year’s AFCON, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Everton loanee told AOIFootball.com shortly after the news of his invitation broke out, following the injury to Odion Ighalo, that he will work hard to justify his inclusion in the team.
“Always excited to be called up to the national team. It is a great honour for me and I promise to give my best if given the chance to play.
“So gutted for the injury to Ighalo, he has been very instrumental to the team over the last few months and his impact will definitely be missed. I wish him quick recovery from the injury,” Onyekuru said.
Onyekuru will now battle it out with the likes of Isaac Success, Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho for who gets the nod to lead the Eagles against the Bafana Bafana in Soweto.
