Rivers Doesn’t Belong To Your Father, Wike slams Amaechi

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has over the weekend lambasted Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on his comment that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has zoned its 2023 governorship ticket to the riverine areas of the State.

Ameachi on his recent tour to the 23 local governments in the state adviced the people on the need to come together and work so as to achieve a riverine Governor come 2023.

The Governor of the State, Nyesom Wike on Saturday while address members of the People’s Democractic Party (PDP) at the grand finale of party campaign rally in Bori reacted to the statement credited to the former Rivers State Governor, he said, “the State does not belong to Amaechi’s father, that no living human being, not even the incumbent Governor has the power to determine who becomes Rivers State Governor.

Wike said, “I don’t want to talk about politics of who is from here, who is not from here. At the appropriate time, the Peoples Democratic Party will sit, the leaders will seat and look at everything together and then take a decision. Not one man, even me as a Governor, can say this is where i will zone governorship to and Ameachi cannot say that because It is not his father’s property.”

He further said, “Nobody should nurse any fear. same person who promised the kalabari and it is now the riverine area. Ameachi is found to be inconsistent in his life, he shouldn’t be trusted”.

Wike accused the Buhari/APC led administration of not fulfilling the promises it made to Nigerians in 2015.

He said, “I want to remind the candidates of our party not to make promises they can’t fulfill. You must by any means fulfil any promise made for time has come that we cannot listen to empty promises like what the ruling party is doing today. When they came in 2015, they told us that naira and dollar will be equal”.

You will recall that research has it that Wike and Ameachi are currently the most popular politicians in Rivers. The former succeeded the latter as the State Governor in 2015.
