Residents, Party Members Storm Streets To Celebrate Adeleke’s Victory

RESIDENTS of the State of Osun and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been celebrating the victory of Sen. Ademola Adeleke as the governor-elect in Saturday’s gubernatorial election in the state.

Adeleke defeated the incumbent Governor Adegboyega Oyetola after polling 402,371 votes as against 375,027 votes garnered by his major opponent.

Upon the announcement of Adeleke as the winner of the election on Sunday morning, the residents and party faithful were seen driving, running and walking on major streets of Osogbo, Ede and other parts of the state jubilating and singing victory songs with PDP’s flag flying. 

Some members of the PDP were seen trooping to the country home of the Governor-elect in Ede in large numbers.

Some of the jubilants party faithful and residents in Osogbo were holding harmful objects like cutlasses, clubs, bottles and charms. 

From Ogo-Oluwa, to Olaiya, Oke-Fia, Old Garage and Ayetoro, some of the jubilant people were seeing driving recklessly while others were having rough play on the major roads. 

The celebration was suspended around 12pm and resumed around 5pm in Osogbo. 

Oyetola Billboard Destroyed In Osogbo After Adeleke’s Victory

Some campaign billboards of Governor Oyetola were destroyed in Osogbo during the celebration of Adeleke’s victory.

OSUN DEFENDER noticed that the campaign billboards erected at Oke-fia, Olaiya, Alekuwodo and Ogo-Oluwa were destroyed by suspected members of the PDP among the jubilant crowd.

Also, the Governor’s campaign placards attached to streets lights along Gbongan/Osogbo road were destroyed by the jubilant residents on their way to Adeleke’s residence in Ede.

The celebrating members of the public were chanting ‘Oyetola Lule’ (Oyetola has lost), ‘Imole De’ (Light has come), Bye bye to APC as they moved with motorcade of cars on the road.
