Release Our Chairman Unconditionally, APC Tells Abductors

 

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged abductors and persons behind the abduction of Hon. Hyacinth Nwiye Hon. Hyacinth Nwiyeto release him unconditionally.

Hon. Hyacinth Nwiye is the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Hyacinth was abducted last Sunday while the Easter celebration was on in his home by unknown persons and yet to be released.

In a signed statement released by the State Chapter of APC in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital by its spokesman, Hon. Ogbonna Nwuke, said, “we are dismayed hearing the abduction of a grassroot member of our party by unknown persons at a special time when Nigerians were peacefully celebrating the resurrection of Christ in their various home.”

Ogbonna said, “the abduction is a pointer to the fact that ordinary citizens are not safe in the country no matter your region or state of resident, it is pathetic.”

In the statement, the Rivers State Chapter of APC categorically said that, “since the identity of those behind the event are not yet known, we have strong believe that the abductors were able to operates freely because of the inability of the Rivers State Government to guarantee the protection of the people at the grassroots”.

The party calls on security agencies to intensify efforts and bring back alive a law abiding citizen that was suddenly abducted.
