A 42-year-old man, prophet of Cherubim and Seraphim Church, Ofatedo, State of Osun, Taiwo Olaniyi, has been remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre over the death of three persons in his church.

Olaniyi was accused of killing one Rasidat Mufutau, Anifowose Basirat and Abdulrahman Afolabi respectively in his church.

He was arraigned before the court on four-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder.

According to the charge sheet obtained by OSUN DEFENDER yesterday, the accused person committed the offence on June 28, 2022 at Ofatedo, Egbedore local government area of the State.

The alleged offence, according to the police, contravened Sections 324 and 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun state, 2002.

But the plea of the accused person was not taken because the magistrate court lacks jurisdiction to entertain murder related cases.

However, the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.A Daramola, directed the police prosecutor, Asp. John Idoko, to send the case file to the Ministry of Justice for Director of Public Prosecution’s advice.

She thereafter ordered that the accused person be remanded in Ilesa Correctional Centre and adjourned the case till November 1, 2022 for mention.
