Pornography In Our Society Today By Damilola Ojenike

Pornography is the portrayal of sexual subject matter for the purpose of sexual arousal. Pornography may be presented in a variety of media, including books, magazines, postcards, films, paintings, sculptures, videos and video games. The primary subjects of present day pornography are pornographic models, who pose for still photographs, and pornographic actors or so called porn stars, who perform in pornographic films. If dramatic skills are not involved, a performer in a porn film may also be called a model.

It’s not a news that porn viewing has become a normal act on the most used gadgets which are readily accessible get within view minutes. Various groups within the society have considered depictions of a sexual materials and content as immoral, addictive, and noxious, and attempting to have them surpassed under obscenity and other laws, with varying degrees of success.

Now, irrespective of the legal, social and religion perspectives of pornography, it has been used in a number of contexts. It is used for example, at fertility clinics to stimulate sperm donors.

Some couples use pornography at times for sex variety and to create a sexual interest or as part of foreplay.

The effects of pornography on individuals or in relationships differ  and are often unclear.

Pornography’s association with addiction with regard to examinations of possible effects such as domestic violence, rape, child sexual abuse, some basic studies conclude that the liberation of pornography in society may be associated with drop in rape and other sexual violence rates, suggest no effect, or are inconclusive.

The danger of pornographic use isn’t about being right and wrong. It’s about the effects that pornography has on the user and the effects it has on the loved ones of the user.

Pornography has both positive and negative effects.

These are some of the negative effects:

Porn means you can’t get aroused by “just” your spouse, porn wrecks your libido, makes you sexually lazy. Most times, porn turns making love into a foreign concept, makes regular intercourse seem boring and causes selfishness.

Also let’s remember: Too often we tell teenagers not to use porn because it is a sin, and they are not supposed to lust. I think the society should start telling them these ten words: “If you want amazing sex when you’re older, don’t use porn now”. If you do, you are setting yourself up for a world of hurt. Everything needs a balance.

  • Porn truly does have negative consequences. I'm glad this article pointed them out. It also can be a very difficult habit to stop. One solution that is helping many porn viewers stop is the book Power Over Pornography. It offers a unique application of cognitive behavior methods that are quite effective. I recommend it.
