Police To Question Sowore Over Viral Video

The Nigeria Police are reportedly searching for Omoyele Sowore, an activist and politician, following a viral video he posted on social media.

Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), shared a recording of himself confronting police officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Access Road in Lagos.

In the video, Sowore accused the officers of causing unnecessary traffic on the road.

On Wednesday night, the activist announced on his official Instagram handle that he was aware of the police’s search for him.

Sowore stated that he is ready to be arrested, adding that he is presently in Abuja.

He wrote, “I have been informed that the Nigeria Police Force is searching for me. I am currently in Abuja and available at their convenience.

“It appears that the new year is about to start on a positive note! #RevolutionNow.”

In a Facebook post, Sowore also revealed that he had spoken with a senior police officer in Abuja, who summoned him for questioning regarding the video.

According to him, the officer mentioned that charges related to the incident had not yet been prepared.

“I have just concluded a conversation with the senior Nigeria Police Force officer in Abuja, who requested my presence for questioning regarding an extortion video I did at a police ‘checkpoint’ in Lagos, which prompted the police hierarchy to launch a manhunt for me.

“He informed me that the ‘charges’ are not yet prepared. I am still awaiting,” he wrote.
