Police Arrest Four KWASU Students For Allegedly Beating Colleague To Death
The Kwara State Police Command has arrested four yet-to-be-identified students of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, in Moro local government area of the state for allegedly beating a fellow student to death.
It has been reported that while the students were apprehended on Wednesday, the incident occurred in a private hostel located outside the university premises the week before last.
Information gathered indicates that the students attacked the deceased student, whose identity remained unknown at the time of reporting, purportedly because they believed he was filming them without their consent.
According to reports, the victim was allegedly recording the four students engaged in a discussion when one of them noticed his presence.
Subsequently, the four students approached him to inquire why he was filming them without their consent, to which he reportedly could not provide a satisfactory explanation. Following this, the enraged students proceeded to physically attack him for his actions.
A student who craved anonymity told Vanguard correspondent that “the victim later died from the severity of the beating meted out to him by the students.”
When reached for comment, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), confirmed the incident to our reporter late Thursday night.
According to her, “The alleged culprits were four, but I cannot confirm their names now. They have been arrested while an investigation is still ongoing over the matter,” she said.
