The Police in Ogun State have arrested a lecturer with the Covenant University (CU) Dr. Stephen Ukenna. The lecturer was arrested on the allegation of raping a 17-year old student of the school.
The police made the arrest last Thursday, following a complaint lodged by the parents of the victim at the Ota area command.
The Police Public Relation Officer of Ogun Command Abimbola Oyeyemi made this known via a statement made available to the press in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Oyeyemi, in the statement reportedly said the victim informed her parents that Ukenna forcefully had carnal knowledge of her in his office.
The parents reported that their daughter called them on phone from the school that she was invited by the lecturer to his office on the said date under the pretence that he wanted to plan a surprise birthday party for her close friend.
But on getting to the lecturers office, he locked the office door and forcefully had sex with her on top of the table.
Upon the report, the Area Commander Ota, ACP Muyideen Obe, swiftly deployed his team to the school where the randy lecturer was promptly arrested.
On interrogation, the suspect admitted having carnal knowledge of the victim, but was unable to give any reason for his action.
The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and diligent prosecution.
