PDP Crises Grow In States And Other Interesting Newspaper Headlines Today

The Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) appears to have slipped back three months after the Supreme Court resolved its leadership tussle. The Nation further revealed that ahead of the party’s December 9 national convention that will produce a new leader, the party is battling to resolve crises in at least six states where the congresses for the election of delegates and state council executives have thrown up problems.

 

Still on PDP’S crises, Nigerian Tribune‘s headline reads; PDP Chairmanship: All Aspirants Free To Contest-BoT Chairmanship stating that the Chairman Board of Trustees (BoT), People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Walid Jibrin, has said all aspirants from the southern part of the country are free to contest the chairmanship position of the party. He stated this yesterday while reacting to the report that some aspirants from South-West were disqualified from participating in the race, while three others were appointed to continue by the South-West BoT

 

Away from PDP and its shameful crises, 26 Dead Nigerian Women Found On Spanish Warship appears on the front page of The Punch.  In details it was reported that the remains of 26 Nigerian women believed to be migrants have been recovered from a Spanish warship in the Italian coast city of Salerno.  The newspaper reports from British Broadcasting Corporation on Monday which reveled the Spanish warship, Cantabria, which docked in the city, was found to be carrying 375 rescued migrants and the dead woman. Most of the women who were found in a refrigerator section of the warship were between the ages of 14 and 18.

 

Vanguard draws the curtains for headlines today still on the recovered bodies stating; 26 Nigerian Women Found Dead On Spanish Warship. In details, no fewer than 26 young Nigerian girls, whose ages range from 14 to 18, were found dead in a Spanish warship as they tried to cross the Mediterranean Sea, last weekend. BBC disclosed that Italian prosecutors had commenced investigations into the death of the girls.  This came as 50 children were reportedly lost to a strange disease, while 40 others are currently hospitalized in Gidan Dugus village of Wangara district, Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
