A civil society group, Peoples’ Advocate, has described the establishment of the new transport management system in Osun by the Governor Ademola Adeleke as unconstitutional.

The group disclosed that the exclusion of local government on the new policy on Osun Motor Park is an attempt to violate the constitution by the state government.

This was contained in a press statement signed by its Chairman, Barr. Bayo Alade, and Secretary , Comr. Jolapamo Bolanle, released to review Governor Ademola Adeleke’s policies and actions.

According to the statement “As noble as this policy and its objectives appear; we are of the view that it clearly violates the letters and spirit of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Therefore, the introduction of the new transport management system without involving the local government is an attempt by the state government to usurp the duties of the local governments, and is a clear violation of the constitution.

“This is a minus for a government that rode to power on the promise of ensuring the autonomy of the local government system.”

The group also enjoined the security operatives in the state to be up and doing in protection of the life and property from political violence.

However, the group applauded the Governor for establishing a committee vested with the responsibility of reviewing the upgrade of Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to University of Ilesa.

“We want to give kudos to the Governor for taking the bull by the horn in the case of the constitution of a review committee to look into the issues surrounding the upgrading of Osun State College of Education, Ilesa to University of Ilesa.” the statement reads.
