THE Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has said that it generated N47.4bn revenue between January and September this year.

The outgoing Customs Area Comptroller of the command, Babajide Jaiyeoba, according to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Kayode Wey, on Tuesday, said this during the handing-over ceremony at the command in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Jaiyeoba also said the command made various seizures of prohibited goods with a duty-paid value of N308m in the last nine months.

He added that the command under his leadership surpassed the revenue target of 2022.

“I want to appreciate officers and men of the command for their cooperation, display of professionalism, and resilience. I want to emphasise that these qualities enabled the command to achieve set objectives.

“Finally, I want to urge all the officers of the command to ensure they keep working as a team, perform their duties within the ambits of the laws guiding the service, and extend the same cooperation he received to his successor,” he said.

Meanwhile, the incoming Comptroller, Ben Oramalugo, highlighted the core duties of customs officers as revenue generation, trade facilitation, and suppression of smuggling.

He stated that those were the mandates he would be upholding.

He urged all officers to extend to him the cooperation given to his predecessor, to enable the command achieve its set objectives and attain greater heights.
