Osun Lawmaker To Award Outstanding Students in Ayedire LG

The lawmaker representing Ayedire state constituency in the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Gbenga Ogunkanmi has expressed his desire to award Outstanding Students in Ayedire state constituency.

Ogunkanmi made the disclosure during a media chat in Osogbo on Wednesday.

According to him, education being the bedrock of a society’s quest for development should not be taken with levity while all mechanisms must be put in place to make it virile.

He said the essence of the awards is to further motivate students especially those in public primary and secondary schools in Ayedire LGA.”

“Education is one of my passion as I view it as a necessity of any societal development quest. It was properly cited as an important agenda of my manifesto during my campaign.”

Hon. Ogunkanmi said “I do not want to do anything different, but rather build upon the policy of my party in promising strong legislative support” to enabling his constituents enjoy free and compulsory sound and affordable education.

Tagged “Distinguished Students”, the programme is expected to start with Project Initiation and Selection of Participating Schools, Nomination of Participants by Schools in the second phase,First stage evaluation of Participants as the third stage.

The fourth is the Second Stage Evaluation of Participants and the Fifth is the Third Stage Evaluation and Award.

The overall third best students will be given prize money to support their education.
