Osun Guber: Durotoye Declares Intention, Promises 200,000 Jobs In First Year

An Aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Prof. Adeolu Durotoye has declared his intention to contest the governorship position in the state of Osun.

The Political science Don formally made his intention known with the letter of intent addressed to party leaders which was received by the party chairman in the presence of his supporters at the party secretariat.

Durotoye said his desire to contest was borne out of his love for selfless service, stating he is on a mission to liberate the people of the state from the untold hardship beleaguering them and as well rescuing them from impostors.

“There are cries of anguish, malady and groans everywhere. There are a lot of abandoned projects, poor performance in education, spring of indebtedness swelling up by the day. The state is under stress. These extra-ordinary challenges requires someone with an extraordinary qualities to surmount them. As a concerned citizen I have presented myself for total restoration of the state. Let us do everything to rescue our state and liberate the people of Osun”, he said.

He promised to create 200,000 job in his first 12 months through the private initiatives and public private partnership, which, he said was key to the economic recovery of the state.

The Osogbo born aspirant also listed prompt payment of welfare package for civil servants and pensioners, revitalisation of agriculture, sports and tourism, positive engagement of youths for personal development and wealth creation and comprehensive medical services among others as things he would implement if elected.

The Chairman of the Osogbo chapter of the party, Prince, Sikiru Kolapo said Osogbo residents have been decider of votes in the state adding that he is well assured that the people would support their own as they have long thirst for the seat.

The state chairman of the party, Adesoji Adagunodo, while addressing the aspirant and his supporters assured them a level playing ground for all aspirants with a transparent free and fair primary election, urging supporters to shun violence.
