Osun Govt Urges Religious Leaders To Preach The Importance Of Tax Payment

By Ismail Kolapo

The state government has admonished clerics in diverse religion to start preaching the efficacy of tax payment to their congregation as it is enshrined in their holy books.

The statistician general of the state, Prof. Gbolagade Wasiu gave the charge while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo over the weekend.

According to him, its the high time for the religious leaders in the state to let the people know the importance of tax payment and what the holy book says about it.

He said its incumbent on all religious leaders to preach the development of the state which can only be achieved through collective effort and payment of taxes by individuals and corporate bodies in the state.

“The development of state requires joint effort and can only be achieved through prompt payment of taxes since the national cake is not sufficient enough to cater for our needs.”

The statistician general noted that “if the religious leaders can help talk to their congregation to as a matter of civic responsibilities take cognizance of tax payment as they do their tithes and offerings, the state would have be more developed more than this as the incumbent administration in the state is more concerned about the development of the state.”

He however enjoined all and sundry to take the payment of their taxes as a must for the betterment of their state.
