Osun Commends Journalists On COVID-19 Reportage

Osun State government has commended media practitioners in the State for balanced and fair reportage of government activities, especially during this pandemic period, in line with the ethics of their profession.

The Special Adviser to the State Governor on Public Health, Phar (Dr.) Olasiji Olamiju made this known while featuring on a magazine program organised by Nigeria Union of Journalists, OSBC Chapel tagged “CANDID PLATFORM”

Olamiju said that Nigerian journalists, particularly those in Osun, had demonstrated high sense of professionalism by acknowledging good governance through balanced and unbiased reportage of their administration’s efforts at bettering the lives of Osun people.

He said the State government was interested in the health of every citizen and appealed to the residents to always observe all precautionary measures laid down by the government.

“With the latest development the number of confirmed cases in Osun as at August 6, is 584, 300 discharged, 271 active, and 13 death” he said.

He gave assurances that there was no cause for alarm, saying the State Government is proactive and sensitive.

The programme which was moderated by Director News and Current Affairs, OSBC TV, Mr Akinola Owolabi gave the journalists on ground the opportunity to ask S.A. on Public Health various questions.

Earlier in his welcome address the Chairman of NUJ, OSBC Chapel Pastor Tunde Adeyemo admonished his members to always stand with the truth that the profession is known for.

The program was graced by the Director-General of OSBC, Mrs. Adejumoke Akinjiola, the state secretary of NUJ,  Mr Bukola Elufadejin, Director, News and Current Affairs OSBC Radio, Barrister Abimbola Babatunde, Director, Sports OSBC, Muideen Adeleke.
