The Elders forum of the All Progressives Congress in Irewole Local Government Council of the State of Osun has called on the party to zone its governorship ticket to the Osun West Senatorial District.
This was contained in a communique issued at the end of the Elders’ Forum meeting held on Friday in Ikire and signed by its Chairman and Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Ayoade Olubowale and Dr. Ajelere Ajewumi respectively.
It reads: “That members of the Elders’ Forum, having felt the pulse of the entire party members as well as voters in the community, resolved to fully back the call that APC should pick its governorship candidate from Osun West Senatorial District.
“That APC State Elders’ Forum (Igbimo Agba) should throw its weight behind Osun West Senatorial District in the selection of the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the interest of justice, fairness, equity and party integrity.
“That we took this decision having realised that the past Governors of the state had established a rotational pattern which began with Osun West (Gov. Isiaka Adeleke’s 1 years and 10 months only) followed by Osun Central (Gov. Bisi Akande’s 4 years and Gov. Olagunsoye Oyinlola’s 7 and a half years) and currently, Osun East (Gov. Rauf Aregbesola’s 8 years). It is only fair that Osun West should be allowed to take its rightful turn”.
They added that the forum is committed to the ideals of the APC and leadership of Governor Rauf Aregbesola leadership, hence, this catalysed their decision to appeal for the zoning of the ticket to the district.
