THE police have arraigned a 66-year-old man, Mudasiru Oladepo before an Osogbo Magistrate Court over land dispute in Osogbo.
Oladepo, who is the Baale of Olutimehin community in Osogbo, was accused of forcibly entering a land in possession of Alhaji Waheed Abebiyi, Abass Akanmu and Mrs. Nusi Alegbe.
He allegedly maliciously damaged corner pieces, pillars and erected foundation of the land valued N1,000,000.
According to the charge sheet, the accused persons and others at large committed the alleged offence sometimes in the month of January, 2021 at Agric Area, Adeeke, Alapata, Osogbo.
The charge sheet stated that Oladepo and others at large armed themselves with dangerous weapons such as guns, cutlasses and charms, and also incited hoodlums against the complainants.
Oladepo was also said to have maliciously damaged the speedometer and fuel tanks of a motorcycle valued about N30, 000, property of one Bisi Odedele.
Defence counsel, Tiamiyu Adegboyega, prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail on self recognizance, claiming that he is a Baale recognised by the Ataoja of Osogbo.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Olufemi Olanibi opposed the bail application, noting that the case against Oladepo is a criminal one and nothing shows that the accused person is a chief.
Ruling on the bail application, the presiding Magistrate, A.O Daramola admitted the accused person to bail in a sum of N100,000 with a surety.
The case was adjourned till January 11, 2022 for hearing.
