The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Osun State House of Assembly, Ayedire State Constituency, Hon Gbenga Ogunkanmi has urged the electorate to shun violence before, during and after the Saturday’s state assembly election in the interest of peace and national development.
Ogunkanmi made the call on Friday in Ile-Ogbo, headquarters of Ayedire local government area while addressing members of an Islamic organization after Juma’t service.
He enjoined religious leaders and parents and to educate their children on the need to eschew any act capable of causing crisis before, during and after the election.
He said that the youth constitute a larger percentage of the Nigerian population, hence the need for them to be agents of change and crusaders for good governance and development of the country.
The lawmaker hopeful charged the youth to participate actively in the Saturday election and avoid any acts of violence and temptation of being used as thugs by politicians.
The former Executive Secretary of Ayedire local government said, “I want to charge you to shun all forms of violence and acts capable of truncating your future.
“As youth, you are not expected to associate with any act of violence and thuggery. I want to charge our youth to be agents of change and crusaders of peace’’, he said.
