Operation Amotekun: Buhari Meets South-West Governors

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly summoned the six governors of the South-west region to the Presidential Villa over plans to establish a security outfit code-named Amotekun.

The six governors, Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) had agreed to establish a security outfit that will tackle insecurity in the region.

The launching of the new security outfit it was gathered holds on Thursday in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The inauguration of Amotekun would be overseen by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, who is the Chairman of the South-west Governors’ Forum.

A source told Daily Post that Buhari summoned the governors to an emergency meeting at the Presidential Villa on Wednesday to discuss details of the security outfit and if it is needed.

Amotekun is a security outfit jointly established by Oyo, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti and Osun states.
