Oluwo Recommends Death Penalty For Kidnappers

Oluwo of Iwo land, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, Telu I, has recommended death penalty for kidnappers in the country.

The King stated this while appearing on Your View, a flagship programme on Television Continental (TVC), on Monday. He stated, “We must make law for animals, they (kidnappers) are not humans. There should be death penalty for the kidnappers. Look at China. Africa are still living in the past, like 2000 years ago.”

“To fight against insecurity ravaging our land, we must invest greatly in education, and also establish ranches for herdsmen to solve the lingering crisis.”

He commended Osun Governor, Mr Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola for the steps he has taken in terms of security. “My Governor is doing a good work. He banned illegal mining activities, like what President Buhari did in Zamfara.”

On restructuring, “I don’t believe in restructuring, there should be devolution of power. We should share powers to states, regions so that people will be in competition to develop their states.”

Oluwo recently wrote a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari on insecurity in the country. “The recent security threat emanating from incessant kidnapping by bad elements or alleged Fulani herdsmen most especially in the south western Nigeria is not without general knowledge. Many brainstorming sessions have been conducted by stakeholders.

“Just three days ago, I was with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo at the Osun State Government House, Osogbo, Osun State addressing the same burning issue. I’ve suggested both long term and short term solutions for policy makers attention. One of those suggestions was adopted by some State Assemblies recently.

“Mr. President, I want to urge you, call every opinion leaders to order to stage a caution of their utterances at this moment. If you can’t be the peace we want, don’t be agents of chaos,” he wrote.
