OAU Students Kick Against Management Over Death of Final Year Student

Students of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, have kicked against the management of the institution over death of a final year student of foreign language, Adesina Aishat wumi who gave up the ghost as a result of alleged negligence of the institution’s heath workers.

Wumi as fondly called by colleagues was said to have been rushed to the medical facility yesterday, Thursday, by her friends after she complained of shortness of breath.

According to a source from the campus, upon getting to the university’s health centre, Wunmi was given malaria drugs and ulcer medication when she complained of shortness of breath.

“After complaints from colleagues, she was referred to Seventh-day Adventist hospital without a referral letter or any acknowledgment means. She was pronounced dead at Seventh-day Adventist”.

It was alleged that the health centre feigned ignorance after the death and didn’t want to release ambulance to transport the dead body.

The students have resorted to express their displeasure this morning against the management over alleged negligence by the heath workers which according to them cost the life of the late student.

Efforts to reach the university’s image maker Olanrewaju Abiodun proved abortive as at press time.
