OAU Matriculates New Students, Charges Them Against Cultism

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has matriculated the new students of the University for the 2022/2023 session.

The matriculation ceremony was held at the Amphitheatre on Thursday.

While speaking at the ceremony at the Amphitheatre of the institution, Prof. Bola Babalola, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire, admonished the newly admitted students to desist from any anti-social behaviours capable of disrupting the smooth running of the university.

He also warned that the university has zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractices and sexual harassment.

Prof. Babalola highlighted that the university’s enduring legacy as a hub for knowledge and intellectual excellence over the years.

Encouraging the matriculated students, he urged them to pursue success in their respective fields and utilize their time wisely.

When asked the total number of new students that were matriculated, Mr. Abiodun Olanrewaju, the university’s Public Relations Officer, disclosed that he could not ascertain number of new students for now because admission is still ongoing.
